It is Monday and Desert Dance Festival 25 is over.  As usual, Dunia and team did a wonderful job putting on a full two days of dancing and commerce in Santa Clara.  I got to see some of my favorite vendors like WickedSmileys, Lunatic Fringe, and Shiny Sparkly Things!  I enjoy seeing the usual dancers such as Raks Hakohaveem, the ladies from SF/BA MECDA, and Raks al Khalil, but I always look forward to the performances of the workshop teachers who this year were Zahara Zuhair and Suzanna Del Vecchio.  These professional dancers make the dance look like liquid, and this year was no exception.

One very special (and I mean VERY SPECIAL) treat was seeing a Kathak dancer from India named Aditi Bhagwat.  As far as I'm concerned, of all the guest dancers I've seen on the DDF stage, Aditi was the most magnificent.  Not a finger out of place or a wasted side glance.  I could see, actually SEE, the story her dance was telling.  I have huge love for Colleena Shakti who I have been able to see dance at Tribal Fest and is like silk made from magic, but Aditi was breathtaking in a powerful, the dance is in her blood, kind of way.  I can't wait to edit up her photos.  Can't wait!

Congratulations to Dunia for another successful event and for celebrating 25 years of festivals.  May there be many more.

Now...as you remember, I've been working on LAST year's photos.  Here are a few more from the Saturday night extravaganza show: Evolution Raks.
